30 Days

30 Days

I watched the first episode of 30 Days in my class and I'll talk about it on this blog.

1. First, I was so surprised to know free institutions like free stores and free clinics. I have never known such place, so I thought America is developed country in such support institutions. I can't imagine myself trying to support myself on the equivalent of minimum wage. It would be so difficult for me because if I couldn't buy things I need or want, I would have so much frustration. Such life seems to be kind of miserable. What I learned from this program is how difficult the life with minimum wage is. It seems to be immpossible for me to spend such life, but actually, some people live in such situation. I think we should know and think about the reality of the world more deeply.

2. If I could live someone else's life, for example, the life of Cristian sisters, for 30 days, what is it like? My life would change completely from present one. They must live in the particular home with their fellows and pray every morning and can't associate with men. Now, I live in my house alone and spend my life freely, so it would be so different from my present life. For me, it seems not to be free and I can't live in such situation. However, they have strong belief and choose such life by themselves. It is reputable. If I could live like them, I could know not only the doctrine of Christianity but also the strong belief of Christians. Having one's own belief and spending a full life along with my own belief is one of my goal, so encouragement from this life would affect and change me in a positive way.

Japanese gestures

Japanese gestures

Today, I'll talk about a common gesture in Japan.

Last semester, I took a picture with IESb classmates after the last class. We smiled and posed and I thought this piture would be so nice! After I developed the picture, I was surprised to see it because Nana who is my IESb classmate put her index finger behind my head and I looked just like a demon! !

Japanese people like to get into such mischief among their familiar friends and I also have done. It can be made by one hand or two hands and expresses a demon that is one of the familiar fantastic characters in Japan. Demons are often described to be a heavy against a hero. They can be fearful, but also charming.

This gesture makes people look funny. It is cheerful mischief. But be careful! Among familiar friends, it can be nice, but if you make this gesture among seniors or superiors, it is so rude!!

Katrina

To tell the truth, I didn't know the issues that were raised in it much at first. I regarded it as one of the disasters that always happen all over the world. However, as I knowed the serious problems which relate to racial discrimination and crimes in the lawlessness and the number of death, I realized that Katrina leaded to so serious issues. I was surprised to know such problems because I had thought America as a developed country in all its aspects. I've not known about existing condition of America well yet and I want to know it more deeply. I think this is a good opportunity to think about such issues.

What Is Happiness?

2. Why have you made a long-term commitment to go to college? What benefits of education might make you happier in the future? What else might make you happier ten years from now?

I have made a long-term commitment to go to university because I want to have a lot of experiences and knowledge for my meaningful future. In the future, my experiences I will get at this university will be valuable for various situation in society and make me confident and my memory of the university life will make me happy. I will work at a company actively ten years from now and the knowledge I will get through the university life will become my benefit and make me happy.

3.How important is money to your happiness? what do you want to buy? How much money do you need? What can't money do for you?

Money is one of the most important things to my happiness. I want to buy a lot of clothes, jewelry, cosmetic, and so on. To satisfy my desire to buy many things I want to get, 100,000yen is need a month, but actually I can spend less than 30,000yen. If I got 100,000yen per month, almost all my desire would be satisfied, but my health, my comfort, my love or something like these can't be bought by money. Money is just a part of happiness and there are many other important parts we should find.

5. What do friends and family mean to you? What do you consider the definition of a good friend? How do your family and friends make you happy?

My friends and family are indispensable for me and my life and without them, I couldn't live. The definition of a good friend is to be trusted. Sometimes, they behave coldly or severely with their love. However, without trust, people can't understand a true reason of such behavior and hate them. Without trust, love for friends and family can't exist. My family and my friends make me happy by their behavior and words with their love that always support me.

Summer Vacation

Summer Vacation

I had been returned to Hiroshima for a month and I had a great time. During this vacation, I had so many events there and I can't tell all, so I'll talk about some parts of them here.

1. I met many friends I had often hung out with.
I went to the alumi meeting held by my high scool's classmates. We had dinner at a fashionable restaurant and a soooo great time! We let our friends know how we've been getting along with each other.
2. I went to the sea in Shimane prefecture with my friends.
I and my friends went to Hamada in Shimane prefecture by car. Though it was cloudy, we swam in the sea and enjoyed ourselves. In addition to this, we ate some delicious squids that are a peculiarity of the region.
3. I enjoyed Miyazima fireworks display on my friend's cruiser.
I and my friends go to Miyazima firework display every year, but this year was't the same as usual. We enjoyed it on the cruiser that tied up near the firework. It was so beautiful and we were impressed so much.

The summer vacation in this year was the first vacation for me as a university student. It was longer than high school and kind of free. I was able to try various things and enjoy my summer vacation so much and I can't wait the winter vacation!!

gifts from my mother

Gifts from my mother

Since I came to Osaka to live alone, my mother has been sent a lot of supplies that are a little strange.
At the beginning of this sweltering season, she sent about 30 Weider in jellies (do you know?) to me. I was surprised to see a lot of them when I opened the package!! About one month ago, she sent a lot of cans to my house. They were Hukahire soup and oyster soup. I was so happy to get them, but why did she send such expensive things!? I have ever eaten such things for 18 years! About two weeks ago, she sent soooo many juices and cookies. They seemed to be a midyear gift from someone. I can't drink and eat them by myself!! These gifts remain still now.
Have you ever had such a little strange gifts from your family? Next time, I will ask her to send a lot of Momizi Manjues that are my favorite special products in Hiroshima!!

We have no practical test and paper test, so all we have to do is to attend the class! That's great!! Of course, I got a perfect attendance in this semester and will get it in next semester, too. In next semester, Mina will join this only volleyball class. I'm looking forward to playing with her and Shun so much!!

Terrible Week!!

Did you have enough sleep this week and can you have enough sleep this weekend? We are soooo busy studying for tests and completing so many assignments! This is the first time I have experienced the last week of the semester in the university. University students are so busy and get tired in this week and I'm struggling in this terrible week, too. Though we are distressed with terrible tests and too much assignments, people participate in various pleasant events in summer! Why were Tenzin festival and fireworks at Tenpouzan held in this season? They should be held in August!! I wanted to enjoy a lot of summer events without any depression!!

movie

Italian Movie

Today, I saw an Italian movie in my Italian class. I saw two movies and I will talk about one of them. I have forgotten the title, but I remember the main story well because it was very impressive.
There was a woman who had committed a crime, but she couldn't be arrested. The reason was for a peculiar law in Italy: The police couldn't arrest woman who were pregnant. So the woman tried to make use of this law. She got pregnant one after another and finally she had seven children, though she and her husband were poor, she continued to get pregnant. However, she couldn't have 8th child finally, so she was arrested, but by grace of help of her husband, friends and neighbors, she was released and could have happy life with her family.
Italian people put a stress on relationship with people. I think it is very important thing, so I was impressed by this story so much. If you are interseted in Italian culture, why don't you see Italian movies??

After seeing night view, we went to Donkihote in Hirakata city.I was shocked there because I had bought a bottle of tea in 189yen at the other supermarket, but it was sold in 99yen there!I regretted buying it before.
When we arrived at our house, It was about 3:00!Yuki and I had a plan that we take the TOEFL test that day,so we each returned to our houses and went to bed immediately!

King Lear

King Lear

Today, I watched Shakespeare's play, King Lear, in my university. There were so many people who tried to watch it, so we had to wait for a while. There were not only students but teachers and to my surprise, we were able to watch it free!!
To be honest, I could hardly understand the play because I couldn't catch its English lines and identify the characters.Though I couldn't understand the story much, I enjoyed watching it.The stage direction was interesting and the actors' singing voice was beautiful. However I wanted to understand the whole story of King Lear, so next time, I want to watch it in Japanese .

bowling party!!

Bowling Party!

I had entered the volleyball circle in my university and on May, 21th, I went BOWLING with the circle's members!
When I got to the place where we could play bowling, I was very surprised because there were about 60 people!! The circle has more than 100 members actually. It is one of the biggest circle in my university!
To be honest, my bowling skill is very poor and I have never achieved 100 score, so this time my goal was to get to 100 score. The my first score was 91. It was close to my goal! I convinced that I could achieve 100 score next, but the next actual score was 76..
The bowling party was very interesting and the all circle's members were kind and cheerful! I will continue to take part in the circle's event next time!

However!!to my great regret,I couldn't eat my mother's dishes at all!!My family were very busy in preparing my grandparents' move,so I ate OBENTO of convenience store every day...I was very sad..
To make matters worse!!I caught a cold.I'm suffering still now..(my friend Yoshiko also caught a cold in her hometown,Aomori. Are you feeling ok?)I'm concerned that I might give my cold to my friends.
